Membership Overview

The Last Frontier Amateur Radio Society (LFARS) welcomes individuals who hold a valid amateur radio license and who wish to support the advancement of amateur radio in Alaska and beyond. Per the Society’s bylaws, a Member in Good Standing is defined as an individual who:

a.)  Holds a current and valid FCC amateur radio license;
b.)  Conducts themselves in a manner consistent with Part 97 of the Commission's Rules and the purposes of the Society; and
c.)  Meets any additional criteria established by the Board of Directors, including the timely payment of dues.

Membership in LFARS is therefore limited to licensed amateur radio operators. Unlicensed individuals are encouraged to get licensed and join once their FCC license is granted. Membership dues are $30.00 per year, and no lifetime memberships are currently offered.

As an active member of LFARS, you will enjoy the following benefits:

a.)  Voting Rights: Members in good standing are eligible to vote in Society elections and on matters before the Board, as outlined in our bylaws.
b.)  Newsletter Access: Receive our quarterly newsletter via email with club updates and amateur radio news.
c.)  License Support: Access study materials and support for license upgrades.
d.)  Club Email Addresses: Members may obtain a club-hosted email address for a one-time contribution to support server operations.

For transparency, Last Frontier Amateur Radio Society formally concluded its nonprofit corporate status effective January 30th, 2026. The Society continues to operate as a member-supported amateur radio organization governed by its bylaws and Board of Directors.

Membership Application

We’re excited to have you join the Last Frontier Amateur Radio Society! To begin the process, please complete the membership form below. Applications are reviewed by the LFARS Governing Board during its regular meetings.

Once approved, you will receive an invoice for the annual dues of $30.00. Membership renews each October, and reminder emails will be sent approximately 60 days prior to renewal. If you decide not to renew, simply notify the club secretary and we will assist you.

I understand that membership in good standing is contingent upon compliance with the Society’s bylaws, Board policies, and the timely payment of required dues. I understand that all dues and financial contributions made to the Society are non-refundable, regardless of resignation, suspension, or termination of membership. I agree to respect the confidentiality of non-public discussions, deliberations, and internal matters of the Society. I understand that any Society-owned equipment entrusted to me must be used responsibly, and that I am financially responsible for damage caused by misuse or negligence. I agree to operate on any Society-affiliated repeater systems in a courteous and lawful manner consistent with FCC regulations and amateur radio ethics. I understand that submission of this application does not guarantee approval and that all applications are subject to review and approval by the LFARS Governing Board.
